MARIO GARZA

is a Mexican filmmaker who writes and directs coming-of-age stories that tackle acceptance and validation in controversial, unexplored worlds inspired by his own nomadic adventures.

He was a semi-finalist at the Cannes Films Unlimited Program and the Viacom Emerging Directors Program; he was mentored by commercial directors Adam & Dave through the AICP mentoring program, was part of the Yes and Laughter Lab, was selected by SHOOT® Magazine for its SHOOT 2021 19th Annual New Directors Showcase and was named one of the 20 directors of tomorrow by the Academy.

Mario’s work has earned him accolades at Oscar qualifying festivals such as Slamdance, Filmquest, Laliff, HollyShorts, the Oaxaca Film Festival and the London Film Festival among many others.

His recent projects include writing and & directing his first feature film in Spain, shooting a Warner Media proof of concept teaser for his second feature film after signing a first look deal with their studio One Fifty, joining forces with a Goya award-winning producer for an episodic series and developing an animated project for Comedy Central. 

Born and raised in Mexico, educated in Miami, Mario has lived all around the globe while creating big budget advertising campaigns for brands like Meta, Nike and Apple featuring Hollywood’s top paid actor The Rock, football superstar Neymar Jr, Latin Grammy icon Becky G and Oscar Award documentary filmmaker Morgan Neville.
